Lately, gut health has started to trend in the health and wellness world. Let's get on track with why your gut health is important. So let’s dive into your gut!
We have more than one brain, crazy right! Instead of just the normal brain between our ears we also have one in our bellies, called our Gut Brain. The cool thing about these two brains is that they are linked through a blood line in the body.
So every time you “go with your gut” on something comes from your actual gut brain. Our bodies are amazing systems and they know what is going on before our brains do. I know this is a lot to wrap your head around, but I promise understanding this is one step closer to get you closer to your goals..
If you want to get Super Scientific about it, there have been recent studies where your Gut Brain and your Head have a direct link. There are more than 100 trillion bacteria cells in our gut which outnumbers normal cells by 10-1. There are also more microbes in the human body than stars in the milky way. Microbes produce more feel good neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine in the body than the brain itself. Your gut brain also helps regulate our Immune response.
