As its name implies, a very small amount of electricity is put into the body by the client’s holding of a small metal rod. This energizes the acupuncture points and makes them easier o read. This amount is so very small that there is no discomfort whatsoever. Then a small, flat-tipped probe is used to read the corresponding acupuncture point. At no time are needles used in electrodermal screening. The skin is never pierced or punctured. Specific points are used on the hands and feet which means that, aside from removing your shoes and socks, you remain dressed during the screening. However, it is vital that you NOT wear any hand cream or lotion during your appointment!

The history of electrodermal screening goes back to the mid-1900s. Dr. Reinhold Voll, of Germany, began a study of the effectiveness of acupuncture and its principles. In this attempt to find out just what happens at all those little acupuncture points, he invented the forerunner to the computerized electrodermal screening devices we have and use today.
